OPTIONS Course Content
Introduction to Options:
Understand the basics of the Options market, including how it operates, its participants, and its significance in the global economy.
Options Analysis:
Are Options right for you? How options are priced? What are the different types of options that are available? What are the ‘Greeks’ and how can they help? What are the advantages and disadvantages of trading options? What are the components of an option? This course will answer those questions and many others.
Technical Analysis:
The student will understand how to technically analyze each trade and know if the trade is a good one to make prior to submitting the order to the broker. We will be using the Greeks, Black/Scholes, Time to Expiration, and properly apply risk management to each trade.
The Greeks:
We will discuss the ‘Greeks’ and how to use them in analyzing a trade. There are many of them but only a trio that are more meaningful than the others. Which ones are those?
Option Strategies
There are various options strategies available, and the student should be taught the safest ones in the beginning. We will cover a simple option strategy (single leg ‘long’ and single leg ‘short’) and the option ‘spread’. We will delve into the advantages and disadvantages of each of these and how to properly know which one to use.
Option Strategies - Advanced:
We will just touch on some of the various other advanced strategies and when to use them.
Implied Volatility and Volatility Trading
What effects does volatility have on the options market? This will be discussed and how we can take advantage of this wonderful thing called volatility.
Risk Management and Position Sizing
Are options risky? They can be…if the trader doesn’t know how to trade them. Options, when done correctly, are the safest instruments out there. The trader controls the risk and reward prior to making the trade.
Options Margin
We will discuss margin and their associated advantages. Do I have to trade using margin? What if I don’t want to trade using margin, can I?
Practical Trading Scenarios
Do you know how to trade options in an 'up market'? What about a 'down market'? We will discuss how to do this and why you should do this no matter the direction of the market.
